The Client Agent is a service installed on the network client machine to help ARCserveIT retrieve and send data to and from the workstation, to improve data transfer, network security, job monitoring, real-time directory browsing, and cross platform backup support. The Client Agent contains separate internal client engines that help reduce the resource intensive processes for the ARCserveIT host. It is a go-between that allows ARCserveIT to efficiently back up machines running various operating systems.
With the Client Agent properly installed and configured, a system administrator can use ARCserveIT's backup program to effectively retrieve data from remote clients. In real-time, the Client Agent browses the targeted directories and packages the data to be pushed across the wire in pulses of large data packets. The ARCserveIT host server will then prepare the data to be stored on the designated storage devices. These simultaneous processes between the target client machine and the host backup system translate to a more efficient backup job process.
