ARCserveIT's Authentication service

ARCserveIT's Authentication service provides a centralized point of control for security issues concerning the entire network of resources made available by ARCserveIT. It verifies and controls the actions performed on ARCserveIT resources via a predefined set of privileges (permissions).

Authentication equivalencies and the ARCserveIT command line

In order for users (including the arcroot profile) to utilize ARCserveIT functions from the command line, permissions must be established by setting up an authentication equivalency. Once this is done, the arcroot user can establish rights to the command line for other users.

Authentication equivalencies establish the mapping of a user's log in name, to a set of permissions, per server. See, `Configuring ARCserveIT's command line feature', for more information.

Authentication equivalencies must be set before access to the ARCserveIT command line is possible.
