Characters displayed incorrectly in locales other than Latin 1 codeset

When the locale is set to one whose codeset is not Latin 1 (for example, C, Japanese, Polish, Russian), the following characters might be displayed incorrectly or cause the terminal layout to be disrupted when viewing the English documentation:

©
(Copyright)

®
(Registered Trademark)

±
(Plus or minus)

´
(Acute accent)

½
(Fraction one-half)

×
(Multiply)

The copyright character occurs only at the foot of man pages and on copyright pages. The other characters might occur intermittently throughout the documentation set.
