Displaying information on a diskette

• To display the contents of a cpio file on diskette (character device), enter
  
  cpio -it < special_file

  where special_file is the path to the character device (such as /dev/rdsk/f0t). This version of the command shows you a table of contents of the cpio file on the diskette in the device. See cpio(1).

• To display the contents of a diskette (block device), do the following:

  1. Enter
     
     mount -F FSType -r special_file directory

     where FSType is the filesystem type, special_file is the path to the diskette block device (such as /dev/dsk/f03ht), and directory is the path of the directory (that is, the mount point) in which you want the contents of this device to be mounted (such as /install). See mount(1M).

  2. Enter
     
     ls -l directory

     where directory is the path of the mount point (such as /install). See ls(1).

  3. Enter
     
     umount special_file

     where special_file is the path to the diskette block device (such as /dev/dsk/f03ht).
