Managing Hot-plugable controllers

Suspending a driver instance

You must suspend the driver instance bound to a controller before power can be turned off to its slot. If the controller supports multiple devices, you must suspend each driver instance bound to a device.

To suspend (unbind) a driver instance, select a device, then select Operations -> Suspend Driver .

When a driver is successfully suspended, ``none'' appears in the Driver Name field next to the slot icon, and the driver name and ID appear in the Suspended Driver Instances list.

NOTE: You cannot suspend or delete a NIC using the Hot-plug Manager. If you need to remove a NIC, run the Network Configuration Manager and remove the network device (see ``Removing a network configuration'' ).
