The Mail Manager

Managing the default folder format

The message store is used by the MUA's, the MTA's, and the Internet servers to read and write folders. This allows folder options to be configured on a system-wide basis. Users can individually override the system-wide folder configuration. The message store will automatically read either MMDF or sendmail folder formats and preserve that format (autoconversion is not performed). MMDF format is defined as sendmail format plus two lines of four <Ctrl>A's between each message. The first and last lines of the file are also <Ctrl>A's. New folders are created using the default format. This improves compatibility with SCO OpenServer.

To manage the ``Default Folder Format'':

  1. Double click on the entry to produce a pop-up ``Modify Default Folder Format'' screen.

  2. Choose between MMDF (Multichannel Memorandum Distribution Facility) and sendmail.

  3. Click on OK to return to the main screen.
