Troubleshooting IPX/SPX

Daemon operation

For IPX/SPX to operate correctly, the npsd and sapd daemons must be running.

To make sure that the daemons are running, enter the following commands:

ps -ef | grep npsd
ps -ef | grep sapd

If there is no output from one of these commands, the corresponding daemon is not running.

To try and restart the daemons, shut down and reboot the system. If services on the network are still inaccessible, then sapd may not be operating correctly. You can use the nwsapinfo(1ipx) command to display the services. If services are not displayed, IPX/SPX may not have been configured correctly using the Network Configuration Manager.

NOTE: If you reconfigure IPX/SPX using the Network Configuration Manager, you must shut down and reboot the system for the changes to take effect.
