The external network number, entered in hexadecimal, is a unique number identifying a single LAN segment. Every node on the same LAN segment must have the same external network number. UnixWare will attempt to configure this parameter automatically. You may need to change this parameter if there is a conflict between network numbers, or if the network number is changed.
If the system is acting as a router (that is, it is connected to more than one network segment), each network interface that is connected to a network segment must be assigned the correct external network number for the segment.
