Troubleshooting IPX/SPX

Network adapters

Incorrectly configured network adapters are the principal cause of IPX/SPX failures. Verify that all network adapters have been installed correctly without any hardware or software configuration conflicts. Use the Network Configuration Manager to examine settings for the adapter such as the IRQ, I/O port, DMA, and shared-memory. If necessary, change the settings so that they agree with those configured in the network adapter's firmware or using jumpers on the card itself. For more information on configuring network adapter settings, see ``Configuring LAN connections''.

The ndstat(1M) command can be used to verify the operation of drivers. In the output from ndstat, ``In/Out'' counts of zero typically indicate configuration or installation errors.

You can use the -v option with nwdiscover(1Mipx) to find out the network number and the frame type being used on the local network segment. If the host has more than one network interface, you can use the -d /dev/device option to select a particular interface.
