The LDAP Manager

Adding a daemon to the system

To create a new daemon, select the Daemon -> Add menu option sequence. A dialog appears, prompting for an identifier for the new daemon. This must be unique, and will be used to name subdirectories created by the LDAP Manager under /etc/ldap/adm. Only alphanumeric characters may be used. Use the OK button to submit the identifier, whereupon a check is made that the identifier is genuinely unique. Once this check has been passed, a dialog entitled ``Configure new LDAP daemon'' appears.

This screen has the following hierarchy of menu options:

The ``Port number'' field, by default, contains the port number 389. This can be changed from the keyboard, but refer to ``Selecting a port number'' before selecting another port.
