The LDAP Manager

Managing access control lists

The Options -> Access control lists menu option is used to set up and edit an access configuration file. The information contained within this file determines which users are able to perform certain operations, or which parts of the directory tree are accessible to certain users. For more information on the role of this information, refer to ``Access control''.

The ``File'' field in the resulting screen displays a default access control list configuration file, /etc/ldap/adm/daemonid/slapd.acl.conf, where daemonid corresponds to the name assigned to the daemon, as described in ``Adding a daemon to the system''; for example, /etc/ldap/adm/hickory/slapd.acl.conf for an LDAP daemon present on node hickory.

Use of the ``File'' field and the Select and Edit buttons is described in ``Specifying a configuration file''.

For a sample of the contents of a configuration file, see ``Configuration file example''.
