The LDAP Manager

Daemon boot options

To have the new daemon activate at boot time (init state 2), select the On option to the ``Start at boot'' prompt: choosing the Off option means that the daemon will need to be manually started by the user, either via the LDAP Manager's Daemon -> Start/Stop menu option, or on the command line, using the ldapstart(1Mldap) command.

The console will, at boot time, inform the user of whether LDAP daemons are starting up. The message No slapd daemons started means that no daemons were scheduled for boot-time start up. For any that were scheduled, the following message is displayed: Starting slapd on port #n, where n is the port number.

An alternative means of checking the status of daemons is to use the ldapcheck(1Mldap) command.
