The LDAP Manager

Managing LDAP replications

The ``Replicas'' field is used to set up a daemon as a master server to slave (replica) directories. Enter the slave identifiers using the Replicas -> Add menu option sequence. This displays a dialog prompting for the host name of the replica, the DN to be used to bind to the replica, and an associated password.

Note that the ``Bind DN'' value of the master must match the ``Update DN'' value of the slave. See ``General backend options'' for more details.

To subsequently delete a replica from a daemon, select the replica from the list, then select the Replicas -> Delete option.

The ``Replica log file'' specifies the pathname of a file used by slapd to record changes. If the specified file is empty, then a default replication log file is used instead: see details of the replogfile option in ``General backend options''. See also ``Replication logs''.

The ``Update DN'' field is used to specify the DN used to update a slave directory. Giving an entry in this field will turn the directory into a slave. See ``LDAP daemon types'' for more details of daemon types.
