The LDAP Manager

Specifying a database supervisor

The ``Supervisor DN'' field specifies the username of the supervisor user for the directory. Unless otherwise specified in the access control lists, the supervisor may add, modify and delete entries from the directory. Note that the directory does not have a supervisor entry.

The supervisor must have a password. To set this, click on Password, and a screen is displayed that provides a single data entry field. If the supervisor does not currently have a password, two data entry fields are displayed, prompting for the password, and confirmation of the entry. Click on OK to commit the selection. If a password has been set, but requries changing, the existing password must be entered before a new one can be specified.
