Accessing NetWare volumes from UnixWare

Multiple name spaces

NetWare volumes, by default, support the DOS name space, which means that the volume supports DOS file naming conventions (8 character filenames followed by an optional 3 character extension, with certain characters disallowed in filenames).

When a NetWare volume is set up for access by another non-NetWare system, an administrator may add additional name space support to a volume so that the non-NetWare system users can use filenames that make sense for their environment.

UnixWare users, for example, may require NFS® name space support for long filenames on a volume so that they don't need to rename their UnixWare files before copying them to a NetWare volume. (This is because UnixWare's name space allows unlimited length filenames with different allowable characters.)
