Accessing NetWare volumes from UnixWare

Name mapping files

In order to use NUC.NLM in NetWare and UNIX modes and properly map NetWare user information to UnixWare user information, you must prepare the following configuration files, located in the SYS:ETC directory:

passwd
/etc/passwd entries from the UnixWare system(s) that will access your NetWare server

nfsusers
maps UnixWare User IDs (UIDs) to NetWare usernames

nfsgroup
maps UnixWare Group IDs (GIDs) to NetWare groups
These files allow NUC.NLM to perform the rights, permissions, and ownership mapping necessary to present a UnixWare-style interface to a UnixWare user accessing files on a NetWare volume.

Using these files, NUC.NLM can present NetWare file access control and attribute information to UnixWare users using UnixWare login and group information.

NOTE: Products such as NetWare NFS and NetWare NFS Gateway automate the creation of the NUC name mapping files. If one of these products is installed, consult the documentation for the product to create and maintain the name mapping files for NUC; the procedures given will be effective for NUC as well.
