Accessing NetWare volumes from UnixWare

Other NetWare access controls

NetWare supports additional access controls that may have an affect on your ability to perform operations on a file or directory, despite the fact that the permissions listing on UnixWare may indicate that you have permission to perform the operation.

You should be aware that NetWare file attributes, security equivalences, trustee assignments, inherited rights filters, and inherited rights masks defined for a file, directory, or NetWare user will affect you ability to access NetWare files from UnixWare and yet these controls are not visible from UnixWare.

If you seem to be unable to access files or directories that you should be able to access (or, conversely, if you seem to be getting access to things you shouldn't be able to access), this may be because one of the above-named controls was set on NetWare.

To determine exactly what controls exist on NetWare, consult your NetWare administrator. If you have the DOS Merge product installed, use the Applications -> DOS option to launch a DOS session and log into the server. Then use standard NetWare utilities to view the controls listed above.

Consult your NetWare documentation for more information.
