Accessing NetWare volumes from UnixWare

File rights

A NetWare user's effective rights on a file specify the access granted to the user on the file, and may redefine the rights inherited from the parent directory.

Supervisor
Grants all rights to the file.

Read
Grants the right to open or execute the file.

Write
Grants the right to open and modify (write to) the file.

Create
Grants the right to salvage the file after it has been deleted.

Erase
Grants the right to delete the file.

Modify
Grants the right to change the attributes on the file; also grants the right to change its name.

File Scan
Grants the right to see (list) the name of the file when listing the parent directory's contents.

Access Control
Grants the right to change the ownership of the file and the rights that can be inherited by the file from the parent directory.
