Overview of NUC Connectivity

NetWare server volume configuration

The amount of initial setup you need to perform on the NetWare server depends on the way in which you want to configure volumes.

The NUC is capable of accessing files on a NetWare volume with no changes to the NetWare volume configuration or NetWare system files. In this mode of access (the DOS mode), only very basic read-write access is provided to the volume, with only very limited support for translation of NetWare access controls to UnixWare's familiar permission and ownership semantics.

By changing the NetWare volume configuration and adding system files for ownership translations, you can also access a NetWare volume in one of two other modes that provide closer mappings of NetWare to UnixWare permissions and ownership. These modes, NetWare mode and UNIX mode, both provide more accurate permission and ownership mapping than DOS mode. UNIX mode has the additional advantage of also supporting most permissions and ownership changes from UnixWare.
