Formatting and labelling diskettes

To format and label the diskettes on your UnixWare machine, do the following:

1. To format and label a diskette, place a blank diskette in a diskette drive and enter:
   
   dosformat -v devicename

   where devicename is the device special file name (such as /dev/rdsk/f03ht) for the appropriate disk drive and disk density (see the dosformat command, as documented on the dos(1) manual page).

2. When the diskette is formatted, you will be prompted to enter a label for the diskette. Enter ``DISK1'' and ``DISK2'' respectively.

3. Put a paper label on each diskette, and write ``NLM Disk 1'' and ``NLM Disk 2'' on the appropriate diskettes.
