Accessing NetWare volumes from UnixWare

NetWare or UNIX mode volumes file ownership problems

If file ownership is incorrect, check the name mapping files on NetWare and make sure they accurately reflect UnixWare user information and the corresponding NetWare information for each user. Almost all incorrect mappings are caused by errors in format or omissions from the name mapping files.

Files belonging to unmapped users are usually shown as belonging to root or nobody.

For example, if an administrator (root on UnixWare logged in as ADMIN on NetWare) tries to change the owner of a file to a NUC user that is not mapped (that is, the user's UID is not found in the NFSUSERS file) the file may become unusable to any user other than root.

See ``Preparing NetWare mode name mapping files''.
