The Client Manager interface

If you are logged in as the network administrator or the system administrator, you can start the Client Manager in any of these ways:

• Start the SCOadmin launcher by entering scoadmin on the command line, and then select Networking Client Manager.

• Enter scoadmin Client Manager on the command line.

For convenience, the Client Manager displays the hostname and Internet domain name for the host being configured.

With the Client Manager, you can:

• Configure name service using one or more of the following methods:

  • Domain Name System (DNS)

  • the /etc/hosts file

  • Network Information Service (NIS)

• Configure the order in which the configured name services will be tried when the client wants to resolve domain names and IP addresses.

• Configure a Network Information Service (NIS) client

• Configure a Network Time Protocol (NTP) client
