Link is dropped unexpectedly

The following message would indicate that the link has been closed because the physical connection, such as over a telephone line, has been lost:

Link link_0 : Physical Link has dropped, M_HANGUP
This may be caused by a fault with the physical connection itself, call waiting being enabled at either end of a telephone link which disrupts the line, or an impromptu shutdown of the remote system.

If you see a warning such as the following, the link has been dropped because the line was noisy:

LCP WARNING Link quality poor - Link Dropped
The link will be dropped if more than a certain proportion of echo samples fail to be returned correctly. Echo sampling can be turned off by setting the echo sample period to 0 for the LCP protocol.
