Using File and Print Services from a Windows client

Setting up with Print Manager

To set up a network printer in Windows for Workgroups or NT 3.51:

  1. In Print Manager, from the Printer menu, select Connect Network Printer.

  2. Choose an unused device name.

  3. If you don't see a list of computers, click Browse. Locate the VisionFS server. If it's not in your workgroup, double-click the workgroup it's in.

  4. Click the VisionFS server, then click the shared printer.

  5. Click OK, then click Yes to add a new printer.

  6. Use the Printers dialog to install files for the correct make and model of printer.

If Windows reports an error when you click the server, or doesn't list any shares, use File Manager to connect a network drive to the VisionFS server, then try again. You'll need to do this if your password for this VisionFS server is different from your Windows password, or if you're using UNIX passwords (the default authentication mode) from Windows NT 3.51.

NOTE: This is a Windows problem, beyond the control of VisionFS.
