Local and remote printer setup

Using the NPRINTER daemon

The NPRINTER daemon is a UNIX process that allows printers defined through the UNIX print system to service the print server. It can be loaded on any UNIX machine.

Unlike NPRINTER.EXE, the NPRINTER daemon does not contain its own port driver, but relies instead on the UNIX print system for configuring and maintaining the actual printer information. The NPRINTER daemon can only be loaded once on a machine, but can service up to 50 separate printers.

You can set up, start, and manage the NPRINTER daemon by by manually configuring files at the UNIX command line.
