Supervising the network
This topic has two purposes:
-
To help you set up your NetWare® network after completing the UnixWare
NetWare Services installation procedure.
-
To help you manage your NetWare network after you have installed UnixWare
NetWare Services.
This topic is to be used by network supervisors or system administrators
responsible for maintaining all or part of a UnixWare NetWare Services
network.
This topic is organized to help you take advantage of your networking
experience. It provides quick access to utility instructions while
allowing a more detailed study of the theory and concepts behind UnixWare
NetWare Services.
Once you are ready to work with the NetWare utilities, you can find
step-by-step instructions for those utilities.
-
The graphical NetWare Administrator utility is available for users of
Microsoft (MS) Windows (referred to as Windows in this manual).
For details, see
``NetWare Administrator''.
-
The NETADMIN, FILER, and PARTMGR text
utilities are the DOS equivalent of the NetWare Administrator
utility. These utilities are all described in
``NetWare workstation utilities''.
-
The graphical UnixWare
scoadmin(1M)
utility is used for adminstering NetWare Services on the NetWare server.
See also the
nwcm(1Mipx)
command line utility.
All of the tasks described in this topic are intended primarily for use by a
NetWare network supervisor on a UnixWare system. Other users with sufficient
rights can also perform these tasks.
For a definition of user types and a listing of rights and what they allow,
see
``Managing the NWS filesystem''.
Also, make sure you have installed and set up UnixWare and gone through the
complete installation procedures for the UnixWare NetWare Services product.
These procedures are described in full in
Installing NetWare Services.
