Administering your system with the UnixWare 7 Webtop
If you log in to the Webtop using a system
administrator account, an administrator webtop page
appears. The main administrator page lists the host
name and operating system version of the UnixWare 7
system and provides links to the three main areas of
the Webtop:
- User Webtop
-
System administrators are given the same default user
webtops as normal users; however, system
administrators receive the Common Desktop Environment
(CDE) as the default application on the user webtop to
provide easy access to the full capabilities of the
system.
- System Troubleshooting
-
The System Troubleshooting section of the UnixWare 7
Webtop incorporates an easy-to- use graphical interface
providing immediate information about possible problems
with the system. The main System Troubleshooting page
provides links to five individual Troubleshooting
areas and indicates whether any problems currently
exist in these areas. Each Troubleshooting area (File
Volumes, File Sharing, Networks, Printers, and
Processes) allows administrators to see information on
the status of the system and to perform simple tasks
to resolve problems. Where appropriate, the
Troubleshooting areas contain links to SCOadmin
managers for higher level problem-solving.

- System Administration
-
The System Administration section of the UnixWare 7
Webtop allows system administrators to manage the
UnixWare 7 system remotely using SCOadmin managers.
The default Webtop contains links to various SCOadmin
managers in a set of folders; however, the Webtop
administrator can configure these folders to include
links to any system administration tools.
