Inputting Japanese characters

Selecting the input mode

The default input mode is for romaji characters to be entered and automatically converted to double-width hiragana. The following function keys change what the romaji characters are converted into as indicated:

Key Input mode
<F6> single-width romaji
<F7> double-width romaji
<F8> single-width katakana
<F9> double-width katakana
<F10> double-width hiragana

 Key     Input mode
 <F6>    single-width romaji
 <F7>    double-width romaji
 <F8>    single-width katakana
 <F9>    double-width katakana
 <F10>   double-width hiragana


NOTE: In some Motif applications, the <F10> key may not behave as expected. In such a case use <Ctrl>T to cycle through all of the above input modes, or use the mouse.
