Starting and stopping the system

Starting and stopping the system

These tasks are related to powering up your system and bringing it down: Additional information on altering the startup process is found in ``Customizing UNIX system startup''.

NOTE: Some of the procedures described here tell how to restart the system after you have turned off your computer, or after it has crashed or hung. If the only documents you have are online, print these procedures on paper, because they will not be available when your system is down. See ``Printing topics and sequences'' for information on how to print online documents.
