Setting up User Profiles

ARCserveIT's Profile Manager allows the ARCserveIT root user to customize user access to ARCserveIT. The user profile scheme is includes:

Group: defines a collection of privileges.
User: object associated with a group.
As the default, when you install ARCserveIT, the arcroot user profile is set up with the administrator group assigned to it. In general, each ARCserveIT user is assigned to only one group containing a profile of access rights.

Group definitions

You can select from the following groups:

Rights/Restrictions

Administrator
Provides control over all ARCserveIT functions operating within a given ARCserveIT domain. Associated with the arcroot profile.

Operator
Provides the same set of privileges as the Administrator, minus the ability to add and modify user related information.

User
Provides control over all functions required by a user to manage and manipulate jobs owned by that user.
Restrictions:

Profile Manager - can change his/her own password
Device Configuration
Control over ARCserveIT daemons
No Media Pool modification
Adding of clients
Database
Can not add/delete groups
