Selecting the Volume Options tab provides access to the following three option tabs:
The Database tab has two options for controlling the amount of information that is written to the ARCserveIT database per job:
- Record Detail Information - records detailed information for each backup job including the session and each file name within that session.
- Record Job and Session Information Only - records only the job and sessions within that job.
When selecting multiple nodes for backup, ARCserveIT enables you to set the each nodes priority, establishing which node will get backed up first.
The priority range is 1 to 255, with the default number of 255 being the lowest priority.
ARCserveIT provides you with three options associated with backup verification. Backup verification assures you that the data backed up to media matches what is on your hard disk. The three verification options are:
- None - No verification will be performed. This is the default setting.
- Scan Media Contents - If you select this option, ARCserveIT checks the header of each file on the backup media. If the header is readable, ARCserveIT assumes the data is correct. If the header is not readable, the Activity Log will be updated with this information.
- Compare Media to disk - If you select this option, ARCserveIT reads blocks of data from the media and compares the data byte for byte against the files on the source. This ensures that all data on the stored on the backup media is exactly as it was on disk. If ARCserveIT finds a mismatch, the Activity Log will be updated with this information.

If you set a verification option on the volume level, it will take precedence over setting the same verification option set via the Global Options button found on the Backup Manager's Menu Button Bar. As a rule, if a local source verification option is set it will take precedence over the same option set globally.
