Access tab (Volume level)

Some backup scenarios include different types of file systems residing on one host (i.e., standard UNIX file systems, a database partition, NetWare volumes, etc.). The options available on the Access tab provides a method of backing up different types of file systems without submitting multiple jobs. Methods will only be available if the selected object applies to that method.

The backup modes available that may be applied to volumes are shown in the following table:

Backup

View/Method

Display/Functionality

Regular File System Backup

Sets ARCserveIT to traverse each file system during a backup. Default backup mode.

Image File System Backup

Not available in this release.

Raw Partition Backup

Displays a list of device files associated with disk partitions. This view reads the hard disk block and sets ARCserveIT to back up an entire hard disk partition. Although the fastest backup option, selection is restricted to device files associated with disk partitions, or you may enter the full path of a disk device file.

Stack File System Backup

Sets ARCserveIT to backup only StackFS mounted file systems. This mode is used for backing up open files and will only be available if the file system is StackFS mounted.

Network File System Backup

This feature will be selected if the object selected is an NFS mounted file system. The backup mode used is the regular file system backup.
