Retrying missed targets

When submitting an GFS rotation you can set ARCserveIT to reschedule any missed workstations or file servers. To schedule a retry of a missed target, select the "Retry Missed Targets" field, and set a time for the retry:

What causes a job to fail?

There are several reasons why an GFS rotation job would miss a workstation from its set:

• The Client Agent is not running.
• The workstation has been turned off.
• The proper media was not mounted before the job timed-out.
• The device drive is off.
• The GFS rotation job was stopped while its status was ACTIVE (while the job was running).

  Any of the above reasons cause a target to be missed. Always make sure you check your GFS rotation logs and the Activity Log for important information about any GFS rotation job. Missed targets will always be recorded in these logs.

  The first full backup of an GFS rotation set is always a full backup, therefore prefixed with an `F', even if the backup method chosen is Incremental or Differential.
