Job status basics

How does ARCserveIT's job queue work?

Every time you run or schedule a job through ARCserveIT, you submit it to the ARCserveIT job queue. Information about all jobs (such as execution time, status, and owner) is stored here. ARCserveIT continuously scans the job queue for jobs that are ready to be executed. At the appropriate date and time, the job is executed.

Job Server groups

The Job Status Manager provides users with the ability to set up user-defined groups that contain customized views of jobs, submitted to the job queue of any ARCserveIT host within a given ARCserveIT domain. Each group can be set up to view job operating only on certain ARCserveIT servers. See `Creating a Server group' for more information.

Each group can also create a custom view of the Job Status Manager window, selecting only to show certain fields when displaying jobs. See `Viewing the Job Log' on page 8-11 for more information.

The Job Status Manager allow you to manage jobs that have been submitted to a server's job queue. For information on job management tasks, see `Managing jobs on the queue'.

Detailed daemon history via the Show Manager Console

For a status history of the host server's daemon services, you can access the Manager Console window via the Job Status Manager's File Menu. This window provides a detailed status-type history of each ARCserveIT service, and provides a more insightful view when troubleshooting the ARCserveIT system operation for a particular server.
