In order for ARCserveIT to be able to represent a particular machine within its browser, it must reside within the ARCserveIT database.
To enter a machine into the ARCserveIT database, follow the steps below:
4. Enter information about the client you are adding.
If you are not sure of the IP address, enter only the host name. As an option, you can display additional information for the client, by selecting the appropriate OS, Machine, and Networking types, as well as the operating system description and version.
| All other fields other than the Host Name field are optional and appear for reference only. They do not correspond to where the new client is displayed within the Backup and Restore manager browse windows. The location displayed within the browser for the new client is determined by the client agent running or installed in that new client. |
As an alternative method, clients may be added to the ARCserveIT database via the as_dbmgr command line, as follows:
as_dbmgr -client add <Host name> -ip -os
To check to see if the machine has been entered into the database and has the correct information associated with it, type:
as_dbmgr -show clients
In order to utilize ARCserveIT's command line feature, the proper permissions must be set prior to issuing any commands. See, `Configuring ARCserveIT's command line feature' for more information.
