Using the command line to add Clients to the database

As an alternative method, clients may be added to the ARCserveIT database via the as_dbmgr command line, as follows:

as_dbmgr -client add <host name> [-ip <IP Address>] [-os <type>]

- Where os types are typed in uppercase and include: NETWARE, UNIX, WIN31, NT, WIN95, OS2, MAC

If the host name of the machine your attempting to enter into the database is not registered with your DNS server, you should list the IP Address of that machine using the optional argument shown above.

To check to see if the machine has been entered into the database and has the correct information associated with it, type:

as_dbmgr -show clients
