Troubleshooting ARCserveIT

This chapter contains a listing of ARCserveIT error messages and troubleshooting suggestions. The error message table included in this section section is designed to help solve any problems that you may encounter when using ARCserveIT.

Use "arcserve -show" to see if asloggerd is up. Use "arcserve -load asloggerd" to load asloggerd if necessary.

E1005

Aprocess cannot be run by user.

Don't run aprocess from the command line.

E1007

Failed to get job handle from asmediad,

Check if device is busy.

E1008

Failed to get device group %s, %x

Use "as_devmgr -groupinfo" to see if target group exists.

E1009

Failed to connect to media server

Use "arcserve -show" to see if asmediad is up. Use "arcserve -load asmediad" to load asloggerd if necessary.

E1010

asdbd needs to be preset for merge job

Make sure asdbd is up and running. If not, use "arcserve -load asdbd" from shell prompt.

E1014

Failed to format media %s, %x

Need to check error code at the end of each message. See list below:

  • A1 - illegal command
  • A2 - end of media
  • A3 - file mark deleted
  • A4 - no data detected

Validate the session number.

E1035

Replace the media.

Make sure asdbd is up and running. If not, use "arcserve -load asdbd" from shell prompt.

E1053

Failed to create Daily Log

Use "arcserve -show to see if asloggerd is up". Use "arcserve -load asloggerd" to load asloggerd if necessary.

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

E1058

Failed to read from media

Need to check error code at the end of each message. See list below:

E1061

Invalid disk node list is found. Abort compare job!

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

E1063

Invalid session Password, job rejected!

Use proper session password and rerun the job.

E1065

Failed to get online media list.

Check and see if media group exists and if user has enough access rights.

E1073

Failed to get missed targets, not asdb connection!

Make sure asdbd is up and running. If not, use "arcserve -load asdbd" from shell prompt.

E1075

Failed to get last full backup date,

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

E1081

Failed to get recycle Media info. Blank Media will be used.

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

E1100

Failed to get job for service

Use "arcserve -status" to make sure asqd is up and running.

E1101

Failed to validate logger access as user

Job owner does not have proper rights to create log files. Use Profile Manager to grand user enough rights.

E1102

Failed to start job monitoring,

Might run out of share memory. make sure there is share memory available and no lingering share memory.

E1103

Failed to get tape device from queue

Job is invalid. Use Job Status Manager to check the job. Make sure tape device is valid.

E1104

Failed to move media %s id %x sequence %d to save set, %d

Check if asdbd is up; check if the media pool exists.

  • Make sure asmediad is up.
  • Check and see if media group exists and if user has enough access rights

Make sure asloggerd is up and running.

Failed to position media to leading session

Media might be bad. Try to scan whole set of tapes from sequence one.

E1112

Failed to connect to asdbd on %s as %s

Make sure asdbd is up and running. If not, use "arcserve -load asdbd" from shell prompt.

E1113

Failed to get tape info from job

Job is invalid. Use Job Status Manager to check the job. Make sure tape device is valid.

E1114

Failed to locate disk node %s from job

Job is invalid. Use Job Status Manager to check the job. Make sure tape device is valid.

Make sure asdbd is up and running. If not, use "arcserve -load asdbd" from shell prompt.

Failed to back up ARCserve database, invalid job.

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

Failed to back up ARCserve database, ARC_HOME/dbase is invalid.

Use "arcserve -show" to see if asloggerd is up. Use "arcserve -load asloggerd" to load asloggerd if necessary.

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

Failed to open user error log

Use "arcserve -show" to see if asloggerd is up. Use "arcserve -load asloggerd" to load asloggerd if necessary.

E1124

Failed to locate a blank media.

A blank tape can't be found for job. Make a blank tape available.

E1127

Failed to open SNMP device

  • Check if the configured SNMP Manager Station address in ARC_HOME/config/aslogger.cfg exists.
  • Check if trap destination and community are set in SNMP configuration file.

E1128

Failed to access SNMP device

Check if the configured SNMP Manager Station address in ARC_HOME/config/aslogger.cfg exists.

E1129

Failed to open user error log

Internal errors. Call Technical Support.

E1130

Failed to access printer on spooler

Check if the configured spooler in ARC_HOME/config/aslogger.cfg exists.

E1131

Failed to prepare e-mail sending for user

Check if the e-mail address is valid; check if ARCserve server has proper e-mail access.

E1132

Failed to open TNG device"

Check if the configured TNG console in ARC_HOME/config/aslogger.cfg exists;

Check if TNG is installed and running on the same machine where ARCserve is running

E1133

Failed to access TNG device

Check if the configured TNG console in ARC_HOME/config/aslogger.cfg exists;

Valid connection to logger service is not present!

Use "arcserve -show" to see if asloggerd is up. Use "arcserve -load asloggerd" to load asloggerd if necessary.

E1135

Failed to get last backup date

Make sure asdbd is up and running. If not, use "arcserve -load asdbd" from shell prompt.

E1136

Failed to seek to new session for backup on media %s, %x

Need to check error code at the end of each message. See list below:

E1138

Failed to find media for %s job, timeout!

If a timeout is specified for this error message, it is most probable that the job failed because ARCserveIT could not write to the selected media. In the case of repeating jobs, ARCserveIT will run the next job in the backup cycle. In the case of a non-repeating Custom job, you will need to reschedule the job manually.

If a timeout is not specified, one of the following informational codes will be attached to the end of this error message:

  • A3 - file mark deleted
  • A4 - no data detected
  • A5 - unrecoverable data error
  • A6 - cartridge not in place
  • A7 - controller failure
  • AA - early warning detected
