Introduction

The RealAudio system is the most popular and practical solution for streaming real-time and on-demand audio over the Internet and corporate intranets.

This guide explains how to

  1. Install the RealAudio Encoder version 3.1 in a UnixWare 7 environment.
    (UnixWare 7 is a product of Santa Cruz Operation, Incorporated.)

  2. Encode audio files.

This guide is meant for those familiar with World Wide Web servers, RealNetworks technologies, and Unix files, commands, and directories.

This guide uses the following conventions:

Monospaced font Represents information you type or information that appears on your screen.
Italics Indicate placeholders for information you supply.
Bold Represents names of files, directories, commands, and options that appear in text, or command syntax that you must enter exactly as shown.
[ ] Define optional command arguments.
