Use a File Pattern filter to include or exclude certain files from a job. You can specify a particular file name or you can use wildcards to specify a file pattern. For example, you can exclude all files with a .bak extension. If you do not know the specific file name, you can provide as much of the file name as you know, then use wildcards to fill in the blanks.
| The Filter Pattern filter can be applied locally (per host) and/or globally (per job). For procedural information see `Applying filters - the basic steps'. |
Follow the steps below to filter files based on their names:
If you select Exclude, all files will be backed up or restored EXCEPT for those that match the file name or pattern you specify.
You can add as many filters to a job as per your requirements.
If you are applying the filter locally (per host), it will be applied when the job is run. If you are applying the filter globally (per host), proceed to Step 5.
The following tables show you how to specify path and file names for UNIX hosts and non-UNIX servers.
