Date filter

Use the Date filter to include or exclude files based on a specific date and time or a date range. You can use a date range to specify whether to include or exclude files that were created, modified, or last accessed on or between this date range.

The Date Filter when used to filter files based on their creation date, does not apply to files residing on UNIX platforms.

The Date filter can be applied locally (per host) and/or globally (per job). For procedural information see `Applying filters - the basic steps'. In addition, this filter does not apply to UNIX platforms.

Steps for applying the Date filter

Follow the procedure below to filter files based on their date:

ARCserveIT date filters are composed of a search method, coupled with a Comparison method. The following table explains the attributes of each of the available methods.

Search method	Comparison method
File Modify - will include or exclude files last modified on this date.	Before - Files whose date is earlier than this date, will be included or excluded. Uses a single Date Field. After - Files whose date is later than this date, will be included or excluded. Uses a single Date field. Between - You must specify two dates for this selection. Files whose date falls between the two dates will be included or excluded from the job. Within - Selecting this option requires you to enter a number of days, months, or years to be used for the comparison. Enter a number between 1 and 250, inclusive. ARCserveIT will use the current date as the basis from which to count back.
File Created - will include or exclude files created on this date.
File Accessed - will include or exclude files last accessed on this date.

If you select Include, only files that match the Date filter you specify will be backed up or restored.

If you select Exclude, all files will be backed up or restored EXCEPT for those that match the Date filter you specify.

The fields used for the time/date values will change depending on search method selected. Their default values increment by 1 unit when using the arrow keys, or you can use the mouse to highlight any part of the field in order type-over using the new value you want to enter.



The above window illustrates a scenario where in order to save time, you only want to include files that have been modified within the last three months.

You can add as many filters to a job as per your requirements.

If you are applying the filter locally (per host), it will be applied when the job is run. If you are applying the filter globally (per host), proceed to Step 5.
