Importing/Exporting media

If your changer supports this function, ARCserveIT can import and export one media at a time.

The Library Detail Tab shows whether your changer can perform this option. (Refer to `Getting changer, device, and media information' for details on viewing this area).

Steps for importing media

This utility allows you to add new media to a large capacity changer by specifying an empty slot to which the media can be imported. When you import media, the changer reads the media and adds it to its inventory.

To import media, perform the following steps:

1. Open the Device Manager.

2. Load the media in the changer.

3. Select the Import/Export icon.

You must select either the changer or one of its associated slots in order for the Import/Export icon to be displayed.

4. Select the slot to which you want to import the media.

5. Click Import.

Steps for exporting media

This utility allows you to remove media from a large capacity changer. This makes it easy to remove media for off-site storage, or to media you suspect is bad.

To export media, perform the following steps:

1. Open the Device Manager.

2. Select the Import/Export icon.

3. Select the media to export.

4. Click Export.

5. Remove the media from the changer.
