Whenever you want information about storage devices including the tape drives connected to your system, the tapes in these drives, or the status of a particular storage device, turn to the Device Manager.
You can also get information on the adapters attached to the host server. See `Selecting devices and device views' for detailed information.
Whenever you need to format, erase, or retension tapes, use the Device Manager. Also, use the Device Manager to change the compression mode for your tape drives, if they support compression.
The asmedia.cfg configuration file stores information in reference to the devices operating on a particular ARCserveIT server. For an example of the asmedia.cfg file, see `The Media Server configuration file'.
You can copy data from one media to another using this Device Manager function. For the Media Copy procedure see `Media to Media copy'.
